At least, that’s certainly what the description of Alpha Squad Seven suggests. The film, which will star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, is “a four-quadrant action-comedy adventure set in space. Independence Day, Armageddon and Guardians of the Galaxy are some of the watchwords,” per the Hollywood Reporter.
Alpha Squad Seven, which was snapped up after comedy writers Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer offered their “one-line idea,” will be co-produced by Johnson and frequent collaborator Beau Flynn (San Andreas).
The news item also described the film as “a two-hander” (no word yet on who’ll be sharing the screen with Johnson), as well as being the hoped-for kickoff to a new franchise.
